SUBJECT
Rattle from the Luggage Compartment

MODEL
E61 (5 Series Sports Wagon)

SITUATION
A rattle noise may be heard from the luggage compartment when driving over rough roads.

CAUSE
The vehicle battery is causing this noise as it moves slightly in relation to the part of the body that it sits on.

PROCEDURE

Apply 3 felt pads to the bottom of the battery box as shown in the attachment SIB513709 Procedure.pdf.
