16 19 040 Removing And Installing/replacing SCR Filter
Special tools required:
- 16 1 130
IMPORTANT:
Ensure adequate ventilation in the place of work.
Avoid skin contact (wear gloves).
Avoid eye contact (protective goggles).
Urea/water mixture can escape when parts carrying urea/water mixture are released. Have a collecting container ready.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
IMPORTANT:
Maintain conditions of absolute cleanliness.
Connections and covers of urea/water-mixture- carrying lines must be cleaned thoroughly with water after each removal or before each installation.
Thoroughly clean the work area with water after repair work.
Use fluff-free cloths for cleaning (see ETK Electronic Parts Catalogue WAYPALL L20 cleaning cloths).
Seal off connections and lines with special tool 16 1 130.
Thoroughly clean special tool with water after each use.
Release screws (1 and 2).
Press thermal insulation (4) to one side slightly and feed out cover (3).
IMPORTANT: Catch and dispose of escaping urea/water mixture in a suitable container. Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Release single-ear clip (1). Pull off hose.
Installation:
Replace single ear clips.
Unclip SCR filter (2) in direction of arrow.
Disconnect SCR filter (1) on pump unit.
Installation:
Check by pulling engagement of SCR filter connecting line (1).
Feed out SCR filter (2).
Disconnect line (1) on pump unit (2).
Connect urea/water mixture suction unit (refer to BMW Service Workshop Equipment) to connection (1).
IMPORTANT: Do not pressurise urea/water mixture suction unit.
With aid of BMW Diagnosis and Information System:
- Activate pump unit until urea/water mixture flows through suction line
Connect line to connection (1) and check correct seating by pulling.
