Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection

11 40 000 - Checking engine oil pressure (M57T2)





Special tools required:







Note:
Drain the full flow oil filter to prevent excessive oil discharge when removing the oil pressure switch.





Important!
Protect alternator against engine oil.

Cover alternator with suitable apparatus Risk of damage.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain oil filter Service and Repair





Important!
Small amounts of engine oil may emerge when the oil pressure switch is removed.

Disconnect plug connection (1), remove oil pressure switch (2).

Installation:
Replace sealing ring.

Tightening torque 12 61 1AZ. Mechanical Specifications





Install special tool 11 4 050 with sealing ring (1) in place of oil pressure switch.





Check engine oil pressure with DIS Tester

Attach special tool 13 6 054 with sealing ring (1) and special tool 13 6 051 and connect to DIS Tester.

Check engine oil pressure with pressure gauge

Install special tool 13 3 063 and special tool 13 3 061 (pressure gauge).





Start engine and run at idle speed.

Check engine oil pressure.

Specified value.

Remove all special tools.

Reassemble car and set in horizontal position.

Switch off engine, wait approx. 5 minutes and then check engine oil level.

Top up engine oil if necessary.
