SUBJECT
[NEW] RAD2 Programming with ISTA/P - No MOST Communication

MODEL
E82, E88 (1 Series)
[NEW] E89 (Z4)
E90, E91, E92, E93 (3 Series)

All vehicles equipped with option 663 (Radio Professional, RAD2)

SITUATION
[NEW] When programming a RAD2-equipped vehicle produced from 03/10 on (and earlier produced vehicles with a RAD2 replacement part manufactured from 03/10) with ISTA/P 2.37.1 or later, a message is displayed: "During control module determination, it was ascertained that control modules connected to the MOST ring are not responding", followed by a second message that begins "The gateway GW is likely to be defective ......" The user is then asked to perform a gateway repair. After following the on-screen instructions, the measures plan directs to replace all MOST control modules.

CAUSE
[NEW] The RAD2 GW locks up during identification with ISTA/P 2.37.1 or later, causing no communication on the MOST ring.

[NEW] PROCEDURE
To avoid the situation above, perform the following steps:

^ Only connect an ICOM-A to the vehicle (do not connect an ICOM-B).

^ Ignore the message that tells you that the MOST bus is not connected by selecting the OK button (see attachment).

^ Determine the measures plan.

Depending on the situation, follow 1) or 2) below:

1. The measures plan shows that MOST modules have to be programmed (see attachment):

^ Hook up the ICOM-B and wait until you have 2 green lights on ICOM-B. Then accept the measures plan. Programming will go through.

2. The measures plan shows no MOST modules:

^ Accept the measures plan and programming will go through (do not connect the ICOM-B).
