51 44 013 Removing And Installing/Replacing Headlining (On Version With Panorama Sunroof)







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Open slide/tilt sunroof lid at front
- Remove sun visors and counter supports on left/right
- Remove roof switch cluster or front interior roof light
- If necessary, remove module for interior movement detector
- Remove trim panels for roof pillar front (A-pillar trim panel) left/right
- Remove all grab handles
- Remove trim panels for front doorpost at top (B-pillar trim panel) left/right
- Remove trim panels for roof pillar at rear (D-pillar trim panel) left/right
- If necessary, remove rear speaker covers







Version with dividing net mountings (1):
Fold back cover (2) for dividing net mounting (1).
Release screws (3) and remove dividing net mount (1).

Installation note:
Observe location data on rear side of dividing net mounting (1).







- Remove roller cover for luggage compartment.
- Fold both rear-seat backrests forward
- Move both front seat backrests as far back as possible
- Pull off edge protection of front and rear doors in roof area







Release screws (1).







IMPORTANT:
The following tasks must be carried out with a second person assisting:
Support headlining at front.
Do not jolt headlining edges during dismantling.







NOTE: Shown removed here for purposes of clarity. Graphic similar.

Unclamp headlining clamp (2) from headlining at rear.
Unclamp side retaining clamps (1) at panorama roof aperture.

IMPORTANT:
To prevent deformation of panorama roof frame, slide headlining forwards until rear retaining clamps (3) feed out at headlining.
Subsequently feed retaining clamps (3) out of panorama glass roof frame.

Fold away headlining towards bottom right and remove through rear lid opening.







Installation note:
clamps (1 and 2) must not be damaged.
Replace clip (1 and 2) if necessary.
Please observe the following operations.







1 = clip assembly old version
2 = clamp assembly version new

Note on clip replacement version up to now:
Use clip part number 51 44 7 123 304 (sourcing reference BMW Parts Department) and glue it in the center of the sheet metal tab headlining area with felt strip part number 65 77 1 377 052 (sourcing reference BMW Parts Department).







Replacement:
- If necessary, remove mirror light on left/right
- If necessary, remove interior roof light on left/right
- If necessary, release wiring harness from headlining and glue onto new headlining







If replacing version with mirror lights:
Cut out premarked aperture (1) for left/right mirror light with a scalpel.

IMPORTANT: Ensure a clean cut so that the headliner material is not damaged on the inside.







If replacing version with cable to inside mirror:
Mark aperture (1) on headlining.
A = Centre of headlining
B = 14 mm
C = 20 mm
Cut out aperture (1) with scalpel.

IMPORTANT: Ensure a clean cut so that the headliner material is not damaged on the inside.







Installation note:
Installation sequence:
1. Secure headlining with edge protection
2. Snap headlining at front into clamps
3. Snap headlining at rear into clip
4. Secure screws on headlining at front
5. Screw down grab handles at front on left/right
6. Screw down grab handles at rear on left/right
7. Screw down sun visors and counter supports
8. Add final details to vehicle
