Trunk / Liftgate Latch: Adjustments



51 24 004 Adjusting Rear Lid Lock (Adjusting Both Strikers)







Precondition:
Rear lid must be correctly adjusted to fit; if necessary, adjust rear lid







Installation:
- Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
- Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
- Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
- Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use







NOTE: Rear lid is shown removed.

Screw in elements (1) for adjusting rear lid (2) completely.
For ideal adjustment, refer to Body gap dimensions.







The right side is removed in the same way as the left side.
Lever out expansion rivets (1).
Remove trim (2).







Slacken screws (1) on striker (2) until striker (2) can still just be moved.
Tightening torque 51 24 14AZ.







Installation:
Replace screws.

Adjust striker:
Close rear lid.
This automatically adjusts the striker correctly.







Open rear lid.
Tighten down screws (1) on striker (2).
Check adjustment of rear lid and rear lid lock, repeating adjustment if necessary.







Unscrew stop buffers (1) to the point where left and right sides of closed rear lid (2) rest on stop buffers.

NOTE: The rear lid must not be higher than the side panels, otherwise there is preload on height adjustment.







Installation:
Carry out operational check until Body gap dimensions are obtained.
