SUBJECT
M57Y Diesel; Service Engine Soon Lamp Illuminated - No Faults Stored

MODEL
E70, E90 with M57Y diesel engine

SITUATION
Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated and there are no faults stored in the DDE fault memory

CAUSE
Software error in the ISTA diagnosis preventing faults from being displayed

CORRECTION
Run a diagnostic session using the current version of ISTA.

If there are no fault codes found in the DDE (or EGS) module, then terminate the operation and create a PuMA case titled "DDE M57Y No Faults Stored".

Once the PuMA case is submitted, the FASTA data will be evaluated to see whether any fault codes are stored in the DDE. These missing faults and any other diagnostic information will be forwarded through PuMA for complete diagnosis of the vehicle.

This software error will be corrected in the next version of ISTA D2.14 (planned for release in July 2009).
