13 62 620 Replace The Nitrogen Oxide Sensor Before The SCR Catalytic Converter (With SCR) M57T2

Special tools required:







IMPORTANT:
Ensure adequate ventilation in the workbay.
Avoid skin contact (wear gloves).
Avoid eye contact (safety goggles).
Urea/water mixture can escape when components carrying urea/water mixture are released. Have a collecting vessel ready.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.







IMPORTANT:
Risk of burning.
Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove rear underbody protection.
- Loosen the exhaust system at the front pipe.







Disconnect plug connection from temperature sensor (1).







Release nitrogen oxide sensor (1) with special tool 11 7 030.
Tightening torque 18 31 2AZ.

Installation note:
Threads of new nitrogen oxide sensors are coated with Never-Seez compound.
If a nitrogen oxide sensor is reused, apply a thin coating of Never-Seez compound to thread only.
Do not clean the sensor section which protrudes into the exhaust branch and ensure that it avoids all contact with lubricants.
Unclip metering line (3) from transmission (2) and detach at metering valve.

Installation note:
Check latch mechanism of metering line (3) on metering valve by pulling.
Unclip temperature sensor wiring (4) on transmission.
Unscrew nuts (5).
Tightening torque 18 31 7AZ.







Release screws (1) and remove holder (2).







Unclip nitrogen oxide sensor wiring (1) on transmission (2).







Unclip nitrogen oxide sensor wiring (1).







Unscrew nuts (1).
Swing out nitrogen oxide sensor (2).







Disconnect plug connection (1) on nitrogen oxide sensor (2).
Feed out nitrogen oxide sensor wiring (2) on transmission.







After completing repair work:
Use the BMW diagnosis system to adjust the selective catalytic reduction.
