CAS Enable Line
CAS Enable Line
The CAS enable line is used to transmit the engine start enable status from the DDE to the CAS.
The DDE examines various states to determine whether the engine start can be enabled. These states can be e.g.:
- EWS enabled
- Brake operated
- Clutch operated
- Preheating active
The statuses are checked by the DDE when the vehicle is unlocked and the engine start enable status is transmitted to the CAS. If the Start button is not pressed within a few seconds, the start enable is withdrawn. If the engine start request is detected via terminal 50, the engine start enable status is transferred again.
If the DDE enables the engine start and terminal 50 is detected, the CAS enables the activation of the starter motor.
The transmission of the engine start enable status via the S_START signal is performed in parallel via the CAN bus.
Fault recognition in engine control unit
The following faults are monitored in the engine control unit:
- The DDE monitors signal transfer across the line.
Engine start is inhibited if a fault is detected.
