Removing and Installing Front Pipe
18 31 090 Removing and installing front pipe (M57T2 with SCR)Special tools required:
Warning!
Risk of burning!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
Important!
Ensure adequate ventilation in the place of work!
Avoid skin contact (wear gloves)!
Avoid eye contact (safety goggles)!
Urea/water mixture can escape when parts carrying urea/water mixture are released. Have a collecting vessel ready.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Important!
Maintain conditions of absolute cleanliness.
Connections and covers of lines that carry urea/water mixture must be cleaned thoroughly with water after each removal or before each installation!
Thoroughly clean the working area with water after repair work.
Use fluff-free cloths for cleaning (see ETK Electronic Parts Catalogue WAYPALL L20 cleaning cloths).
Seal off connections and lines with special tool 16 1 130!
Thoroughly clean special tool with water after each use.
Release clamp (4).
Tightening torque 18 31 6AZ.
Pull metering module (5) out of front pipe, do not remove.
Release clamp (1).
Tightening torque 18 31 4AZ.
Unscrew nuts (2).
Tightening torque 18 31 5AZ.
Replace gasket.
Unscrew nuts (3).
Tightening torque 18 31 7AZ.
Release temperature sensor (4) and remove from front pipe.
Tightening torque 18 31 3AZ.
Installation Note:
Check rubber mounts for damage. Replace damaged rubber mounts.
When replacing front pipe, modify mixer.
Check exhaust system for leak tightness.
After completing work:
Carry out SCR adjustment using BMW Diagnosis and Information System.
