E60, E61 (5 Series) with N54 from 03/07 production

INFORMATION
From March 2007 (and April 2007 on E70 vehicles), the new relay for the electric coolant fan power supply has been introduced into vehicles.

E70 X5
Coolant fan power supply relay K9137 (1) is located behind the front right fender, close to the DSC module. In order to gain access to the relay's harness, the wheel well cover has to be removed.

E60, E61
Coolant fan power supply relay K9137 (1) is located in the back of the rear fuse box. Connector (2) provides control signals for relay
activation (KL30g from the rear fuse box/power distribution box and local ground KL31).

In the case of electric coolant fan failure (with symptoms of A/C malfunction, engine overheating, or fault code 2EFE "Cooling fan activation" stored in the DME), check the power supply relay operation:

1. Make sure that both B+ threaded connections (1) are tight.

2. Check the KL30g and KL31 signals (connector 2) for correct operation.

[NEW] The updated wiring diagrams are available since DIS DVD 53.
