54 13 070 Removing And Installing/Replacing Both Floating Headlinings For Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove glass slide/tilt sunroof lid at front and rear

NOTE: Front and rear floating headlinings can be removed separately from each other. Make sure that grease on the rails does not come into contact with the floating headlining.







Installation note:
- Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
- Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
- Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
- Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use







Front floating headlining:
Open floating headlining approx. halfway.
Front rain channel must be situated between first and second screws.
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 54 12 04AZ.
Remove star washers.

Installation note:
Replace microencapsulated screws.
Make sure star washers are correctly positioned.

Pull out floating headlining (2) in direction of arrow.
If necessary, press wind deflector downwards.

Installation note:
Carefully raise floating headlining mechanism.







Rear floating headlining:
Close floating headlining.
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 54 12 05AZ.

Installation note:
Replace microencapsulated screws.

IMPORTANT:
Number of tension springs is dependent on the version:
- Up to 01/2010 tension springs on only one side (left).
- From 01/2010 tension springs on both sides (left and right).

Remove tension springs and washers.







Slide floating headlining (4) in direction of arrow (1) between outer body skin and headlining.
Slide floating headlining (4) up to end of control rail (3).
Raise floating headlining (4) and remove over control rail (3) in direction of arrow (2).

IMPORTANT:
Slider set can fall sideways out of guide rail.
Risk of damage to drag arm.
Secure slider set or if necessary remove.







Installation note:
Tensioning springs (1) must rest correctly in recess of rear floating headlining (2).
Left side: make sure washer (4) is correctly positioned with anti-twist lock.
Right side: insert white plastic washers.
Replace microencapsulated screws.
Tightening torque 54 12 05AZ.

IMPORTANT: A gap of light between the floating headlinings is not permitted.

Perform function check:
- Floating headlining must be able to move in control rail in X-direction.
- Floating headlining is positioned on right and can be pressed towards left under spring tension.
- Floating headlining springs back towards right into initial position.
