SUBJECT
The DVD Changer Cover Doesn't Open Fully

MODEL
F01, F02 (7 Series) produced up to June 11, 2009

SITUATION
When pressing the release button on the instrument panel, the cover/lid for the DVD changer only opens partially.

CAUSE
The insulating mat which is glued to the underside of the passenger airbag has come loose and is preventing the cover from opening fully.

PROCEDURE

1. Press the release button on the instrument panel to open the cover for the DVD changer.

2. Carefully press the cover into the fully open position.

3. Remove the decorative cover trim per Repair Instruction REP 51 45 388.

4. Close the cover.

5. Pull the loose insulating mat from the top left area of the cover as shown in the attachment B512709 Procedure.pdf.

6. Reinstall the decorative cover trim. It is not necessary to replace the insulating mat that has been removed.
