25 16 056 - Removing and installing/replacing shift tower (Steptronic)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear underbody protection.
- Remove centre console 51 16 200 Removing and Installing Storage Compartment.





Move selector lever to park position "P".
Grip clamping sleeve (1) and slacken nut (2).

Installation Note:
Adjust selector lever Adjustments.





Note:
E85/E63/E64:

Brace cable on hex head (1) and loosen nut (2).

Tightening torque: 25 16 1AZ [1][2]Shifter A/T.
Pull cable (3) out of bracket.





Note:
E60/E61/E85 N52:

Detach retainer (3) downwards using a screwdriver.





Disconnect plugs (1 and 2).
Unscrew bolt (3).
Tightening torque 25 16 5AZ [1][2]Shifter A/T.
Slide interlock cable (4) down using a screwdriver (5) from shaft of interlock locking pawl towards left.

Installation Note:
Adjust interlock cable Adjustments and check interlock function.





Release screws (1).
Tightening torque: 25 16 3AZ [1][2]Shifter A/T.
Feed sleeve (2) out of body.
Lift shift tower out of centre console.





Installation:
Seal must not be damaged.
