Removing and Installing/Replacing Vibration Damper Hub (N62/N62TU)

11 23 031 - Removing and installing/replacing vibration damper hub (N62/N62TU)





Special tools required:
- 11 3 460 11 3 460 Protractor
- 11 9 451 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer
- 11 9 452 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer
- 11 9 453 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer
- 11 9 454 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove design cover
- Remove fan clutch Service and Repair (E65)
- Remove fan cowl (E65)
- Remove electric fan (E60)
- Remove drive belt Replacing Alternator Drive Belt for alternator
- Remove drive belt for A/C compressor
- Remove front engine underguard
- Remove tensioner from A/C compressor drive belt (E65)
- Remove vibration damper Removing and Installing/Replacing Vibration Damper (N62/N62TU)





Screw special tool 11 9 451 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer in conjunction with special tool 11 9 452 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer to vibration damper hub and to oil sump.
Release central bolt (1).
Remove special tools.
Remove hub for vibration damper.





Installation Note:
Check vibration damper hub and radial seal, replace if necessary.
Align groove in vibration damper hub to parallel key and install vibration damper hub.
Replace central bolt (1).
Tighten down central bolt (1) to joining torque.
Tightening torque 11 23 2AZ 11 23 Vibration Damper.





Installation:
Fit special tool 11 3 460 11 3 460 Protractor on special tool 11 9 451 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer.

Note:
Special tool 11 3 460 11 3 460 Protractor is magnetic.





Installation Note:
Select 0° position and secure special tool 11 9 453 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer with clamping screw on socket (special tool 11 9 454 11 9 450 Counter Holder w/ Socket and Pointer).
Tighten the central screw with torsion angle.

Tightening torque 11 23 2AZ 11 23 Vibration Damper.





Assemble engine.
