18 10 031 - Replacing rear muffler (M54/N52)





Warning!
Scalding hazard!
These tasks should only be carried out on an exhaust system that has cooled down!





The cutting line between rear muffler and center muffler is indicated by a center mark on the underside.





Cut the exhaust pipe with special tool 00 2 210 at the marked point and deburr.





Release screw connection of holder for rear muffler on rear axle carrier.





Release screw connection of holder for rear muffler on tail panel.
Remove rear muffler

Installation Note:
Replace self-locking nuts.

Install rubber mounts for suspension from body on new rear muffler.





Installation Note:
Align exhaust system and clamping sleeve in such a way that there is sufficient spacing to adjoining components.
Connect new rear muffler and center muffler by means of clamping sleeve.

Note:
Cutting point is in middle of clamping sleeve.
