SUBJECT
DMTL Tank Leakage Test Module Provides Inaccurate Results

MODEL
All models with N54 Engine with MSD80/81

SITUATION
When performing test plan B1214_NG6DMTL, "Diagnostic module for tank leakage", the test module may end with the statement "Function test diagnostic module for fuel tank leakage not tested! Repeat test module."

Although the DMTL test module has been completed successfully, this statement is always displayed, whether the system has passed or failed the test.

CAUSE
DIS/GT1 V54 software error

CORRECTION
When performing the "Diagnostic module for tank leakage" test module, use the following guidelines:

1. Check the DME fault memory. Perform all applicable test modules. Proceed only after all test modules have been fully completed.

2. After all necessary repairs are performed and if the DME contains faults for the DMTL system, clear all faults prior to beginning the leakage test.

3. Run the DMTL tank leakage test module. After the test module has been completed, recheck the DME fault memory. If no faults are stored, then the DMTL system has been tested and currently leaks have not been detected. If leak-related faults are stored (i.e., 2A15, "DMTL minor leak"), then the leakage test has failed and further troubleshooting is necessary.

This test module will be correct as of ISTA Technical Data 2.9.0.
