SUBJECT
Missing "Year One of the 1" Start/Stop Ring

MODEL
E82, E88 (1 Series) produced January 2009

SITUATION
To commemorate the first year of the 1 Series production, owners were provided with a limited edition book, a certificate for their new 1 Series vehicle and a special embossed "Year of the 1" ring encircling
the START/STOP buttons. However, vehicles produced in January 2009 were not equipped with the special commemorative embossed "Year of the 1" ring encircling their START/STOP buttons.

Owners of the affected vehicles have been mailed a letter (Attachment 1), and may request the installation of the "Year of the 1" START/STOP switch.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Refer to Attachment 2 Affected Vehicles

PROCEDURE
This procedure may only be performed on a customer request basis. The eligibility of the vehicle for this retrofit should be confirmed by either the customer providing a copy of the letter, or by checking against
the Affected Vehicle list (Attachment 2).

Remove and replace the STOP/START switch. Refer to Repair Instruction REP 61 31 023.
