16 11 060 Removing and Installing/Replacing Fuel Filler Pipe
16 11 060 - Removing and installing/replacing fuel filler pipe (US vehicles with N51 engines)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Draw off fuel from fuel tank
- Remove rear right wheel arch trim Service and Repair
- Lower rear axle Lowering/Raising Rear Axle Carrier (Special Tool SWZ 00-2040)
Unhook retaining strap (1) from tank flap.
Open cap and set to one side.
Release hose clip (1) completely and remove clamping ring.
Installation:
Make sure that filler pipe with clamping ring is installed in correct position.
Indentation (2) of clamping ring must line up with raised section (3) of tank.
Pin (4) of filler pipe must line up with indentation on clamping ring.
Hose clip (1) must always be replaced.
Tightening torque 16 11 3AZ 16 11 Fuel Tank and Mounting Parts.
Installation:
Seal (1) must be replaced.
Attach new seal (1) during installation to filler pipe.
Unlock quick-release fasteners (1) and disconnect vent hoses.
Slacken nut (2).
Unscrew nut (1).
Installation:
Tightening torque 16 12 2AZ 16 12 Fuel Delivery.
Withdraw fuel filler pipe (2) completely out of rubber gaiter at wheel arch and feed out.
Installation:
Make sure rubber gaiter is correctly seated.
Installation:
Clean contact surface on body and grounding lead on fuel filler pipe.
Ground connection must be guaranteed.
