SUBJECT
N63 Turbocharger Auxiliary Water Pump Faults

MODEL
E71, F01, [NEW] F02 with N63 engine up to 6/30/2009

SITUATION
The Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated with the following fault codes stored in the DME control module:

^ (E71) 2EA9 Turbocharger coolant pump, control line, electric, 0x1016 - line interruption

^ (F01, [NEW] F02) 20A504 - Turbocharger coolant pump, control line, electric: line interruption

CAUSE
An internal component fault of the auxiliary water pump will cause it to not power up intermittently. Improved pumps went into production on 6/30/2009.

PROCEDURE

Replace the auxiliary water pump for the turbochargers with improved pump P/N 11 51 7 589 636. Refer to Repair Instruction RA11 53 090 on replacement of the pump and proper coolant bleeding procedures.
