Technical Service
This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI B52 09 08 dated April 2009.
[NEW]designates changes to this revision
SUBJECT
Seat Heater Does Not Feel Hot Enough
MODEL
E70 (X5) equipped with Comfort Seats (SA456)
E71 (X6) equipped with Comfort Seats (SA456)
[NEW]Vehicles produced up to 3/2009
SITUATION
The customer may feel that the seat heater is not reaching a high enough temperature, even when on the warmest setting.
If the vehicle is compared to a like vehicle, the result is the same. However, if the vehicle is compared to another E70 or E71 without Comfort Seats, the maximum temperature on those seats will be noticeably higher.
CAUSE
The seat heater is functioning properly; however, the set point for maximum temperature in the seat module has been set lower on the Comfort Seat than other X5 and X6 seat variants.
PROCEDURE
[NEW]Do not replace any parts.
[NEW]Using ISTA/P 2.37.0 or later, perform the retrofit "Seat heating temperature increase". This will code both front seat modules with the updated seat heater temperature parameters.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet / Aftersales Portal / Service / Workshop Technology / Vehicle Programming.
