Body - Can't Unlock Vehicle With Comfort Accdess Handles

SUBJECT
Doors Will Not Lock Using Comfort Access Handles

MODEL
E93 (3 Series Convertible) produced up to 12/2007 and equipped with Comfort Access (option 322)

SITUATION
When the Retractable Hardtop (RHT) is in the open position, it is not possible to lock the vehicle using the Comfort Access door handles.

Locking the vehicle is still possible by using the key fob or turning the key in the lock cylinder.

CAUSE
Software error affecting the door handle electronics (TAGE)

PROCEDURE
Conduct a diagnostic session and check for faults stored in either door module.

If any faults are stored, continue with a normal diagnostic process and then program and code the vehicle.

If no faults are stored, program and code the vehicle.

Use the most recent Progman version (target data status E89x-07-12-515 or later). Refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization and Programming), attachment "B909501ProgCoding," Procedure B.

Note that Progman will automatically reprogram all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
