SUBJECT
Service Action: Replace the Radial Compressor Centrifugal Clutch
MODEL
Alpina B7 produced from 11/10/2006 to 02/26/2007
SITUATION
The Alpina B7 engine is supercharged by means of a radial compressor. The compressor is engaged by a centrifugal clutch at engine speeds above 1100 RPM. Engagement of the radial compressor, as the vehicle pulls away, could produce a clutch rattling noise associated with the design of the clutch internal components.
A Service Action will be conducted on all affected vehicles to replace the radial compressor centrifugal clutch.
To minimize customer's inconvenience caused by this Service Action, you are being asked to pickup (and deliver after repair), if necessary, the affected vehicle from customer's home, and provide appropriate alternative transportation.
Customers will be impressed when you return their cars cleaned inside and out and with a full tank of gas. Reimbursement information for the vehicle fueling and valet costs can be found in the Warranty portion of this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves Alpina B7 vehicles with Alpina N62 engines which were produced from 11/10/2006 to 02/26/2007.
In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Service Action, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

CORRECTION
On affected vehicles remove the radial compressor and replace the centrifugal clutch.
PROCEDURE
It is necessary to remove the radial compressor, as described in RA 11 65 035, in order to carry out the centrifugal clutch replacement. Refer to the attachment for repair instructions on the removal and replacement of the centrifugal clutch assembly.

LABEL INSTRUCTIONS
This Service Action has been assigned code number 497. After the vehicle has been checked, and corrected if necessary, obtain a label (SD 92-320) and:
a. emboss your BMW dealer warranty number in the middle of the label (1);
b. punch out code number 497 printed on the label and,
c. affix the label to the B pillar as shown.
If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on top of another one because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.
