Repair Information

Seal all of the openings of the radial compressor using the cover caps (1, 2) and shrouds (3) supplied in the kit.

Loosen bolts (1) of belt pulley (2). Remove the belt pulley.

Installation: Tighten the bolts in a diagonal sequence to 9 Nm.

Remove the 69 mm diameter spacer (1) and discard it.

Loosen the 6 mm retaining screw (1) of hexagon bushing (2) while holding the bushing with a 27 mm wrench. Unscrew the retaining screw and remove the hexagon bushing.

Remove any remaining threadlocker by cleaning the threads using an M8 tap.

Important:
Clean the tap with brake cleaner first as the tap and threads must be dry and free of grease. Blow out the threadlocker residue with compressed air.

Important:
The puller tool (spindle guide, guide sleeve and puller plate) must be installed dry without any grease or lubrication. Screw the short thread side of the spindle guide (1) until the full stop.

Screw puller plate (1) onto spindle guide (2) as far as the stop and install the M6 x 30 bolts (3) into the clutch assembly by hand until they make contact with the puller plate.

Hold the housing (with oil filter strap if necessary) and rotate the puller tool counter-clockwise (using 19 mm open-ended wrench if necessary) to remove the clutch assembly from the bearing journal.

Remove the M6 x 30 bolts (1) and remove the puller plate (2) from the clutch hub.

Check that the spindle guide (1) is still screwed into bearing journal (2) as far as the stop. Clean out the housing using a dry cloth and clean and lightly lubricate the bearing journal with oil.

Important:
Leave the alignment Allen screw (1) screwed into the ZB clutch assembly for assembly.

Fit the ZB clutch assembly over the spindle guide and onto the bearing journal as illustrated.

Fit the guide sleeve (1) onto the spindle guide with the opening towards the clutch assembly and screw on the puller plate (2).

Hold housing (1) (with oil filter strap if necessary) and rotate puller plate (2) clockwise by hand to install the clutch assembly onto the bearing journal as far as the stop.

Remove the puller plate and guide sleeve and unscrew spindle guide (1) using a 17 mm open-ended wrench.

Install hexagon bushing (1), coat the retaining screw (2) with Loctite 243 threadlocker, and install to a tightening torque of 22 Nm while holding the hexagon bushing with a 27 mm wrench. Loosen and discard the alignment Allen screw (3).

Re-install belt pulley (2). Tightening the bolts (1) in a diagonal sequence to a tightening torque of 9 Nm.

Remove all cover caps and shrouds. Replace O-rings (1) with new ones and grease them. Re-install radial compressor and correct engine oil level if necessary.
