Warning!
Scalding hazard!
Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Carry out diagnosis of exhaust flap with DIS diagnosis system.
If replacing the exhaust flap (1), it must be cut away from the rear muffler.
Important!
Measure and make a note of distance between both tailpipes.
Incorrect alignment of the new exhaust flap may result in damage to the rear bumper trim!
Cut off faulty exhaust flap (1) with a suitable tool at dashed line (2) and deburr.
Length of pipe neck to rear muffler must be at least 16 mm!
With exhaust flap cut off, length of pipe neck (1) must be at least 16 mm.
Push on terminal (1)
Protrusion (2) at pipe neck 6 mm to 10 mm.
Lightly tighten clamping screw (3).
Push on seal (1)
Push on new exhaust flap (1).
Lightly tighten screws (2) at top and on right.
Installation Note:
Make sure seal is correctly seated.
Place captive retainer (1) around connecting clip of rear muffler.
Insert screw (2) and lightly tighten.
Align tailpipes to noted distance.
Incorrect alignment of the new exhaust flap may result in damage to the rear bumper trim!
Align endpipe (1).
Tighten down terminal (2).
Tightening torque 18 31 4AZ 18 31 Exhaust System.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 12 31 5AZ 18 31 Exhaust System.
Note:
Check function of exhaust flap.
Check exhaust system for leaks.
