Removing and Installing/Replacing Left Exhaust Manifold

18 40 010 - Removing and installing/replacing left exhaust manifold (N62, N62TU)





Warning!
Scalding hazard!
Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove left control sensor Replacing Left Lambda Oxygen Control Sensor
- Remove left monitor sensor Replacing Left Lambda Oxygen Monitor Sensor
- Remove complete exhaust system Service and Repair
- Secure engine in installation position with special tool Securing Engine in Installation Position
- Lower front axle support Lowering/Raising Front Axle Carrier
- Release lower universal joint of steering spindle Replacing Universal Joint for Lower Section of Steering Spindle
- BMW ALPINA B7 vehicles:
- Remove exhaust temperature sensor






For purposes of clarity, nuts are shown on removed engine.
Release nuts on exhaust manifold.
Remove exhaust manifold towards bottom and pull out towards rear.






Installation Note:
Replace seals.
Seal beads faces the exhaust manifold.
Coat threads with copper paste.
Replace nuts.
Tightening torque 11 62 1AZ [1][2]11 62 Exhaust Manifold.
