Replacing A/C System Compressor (N62, With Dynamic Drive)




64 52 524 - Replacing A/C system compressor (N62, with Dynamic Drive)





Special tools required:
- 32 1 270 32 1 270 Plugs (Set)





Warning!
Risk of injury!

Follow safety instructions for handling R 134a refrigerant.

Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.

Important!
Risk of damage!

Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.

Read and comply with notes on replacing compressor. Instructions For Compressor Replacement

Follow instructions Removal and Replacement for opening and replacing parts in refrigerant circuit!

If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:

Replace desiccant insert for A/C system Replacing Desiccant Insert for A/C System (Condenser Removed)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drawing off, evacuating and filling the A/C system Drawing off, Evacuating and Filling A/C System (R 134a) are not included in the time value given for this work operation
- Release coolant tank and place to one side
- Remove alternator drive belt Replacing A/C Compressor Drive Belt
- Release stabilizer on front axle Removing and Installing / Replacing Front Active Stabilizer





Important!
Do not place front panel centre section (2) on jump start terminals.

Do not kink Bowden cables for engine hood/bonnet locking.

Release bolts (1).

Remove front panel centre section (2) in direction of arrow and place to one side.





Release screws (1) and feed out refrigerant lines (2).

Tightening torque 64 53 6AZ [1][2]Expansion Valve.





Release screw (1) and disconnect refrigerant lines.

Replace all sealing rings and moisten with refrigerant oil.

Tightening torque 64 53 6AZ [1][2]Expansion Valve.





Important!
Seal openings or lines on compressor with special tool 32 1 270 32 1 270 Plugs (Set) to prevent escape of media and fouling.





Important!
Secure compressor (2) against falling out.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release screw and nut (3).

Release bolts (4), remove bracket for oil lines (5) and feed out compressor (2) with refrigerant lines downwards.

Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ Specifications.





Adapter sleeves (1) must not be damaged.

Replace damaged adapter sleeves.





Installation Note:
Before feeding in compressor, insert rear bolt (1) with shim (2).





After installation:

- Evacuate and fill A/C system Drawing off, Evacuating and Filling A/C System (R 134a)





Replacement:

Release screws (1) and remove refrigerant lines.

Installation Note:
Replace all sealing rings and moisten with refrigerant oil.

Tightening torque 64 52 1AZ Specifications.
