Replacing Rubber Mount for Transmission Mounting (AWD)

22 31 001 - Replacing rubber mount for transmission mounting (AWD)





Special tools required:
- 22 1 017 22 1 010 Set of Tools
- 22 1 041 22 1 040 Fixture
- 22 1 042 22 1 040 Fixture
- 22 1 043 22 1 040 Fixture
- 22 1 044 22 1 040 Fixture
- 22 1 045 22 1 040 Fixture
- 33 4 460 33 4 460 Set of Tools





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear underbody protection
- Replace center muffler (E9x N53 only)
- Remove complete exhaust system
- Support transmission with hydraulic lifter.
- Remove heat shields
- Detach front propeller shaft, tie back to side
- Detach rear propeller shaft Removing and Installing Complete Propeller Shaft (Constant-Velocity Joint), tie back to side
- Remove cross-member Replacing Cross-Member for Transmission Mounting (4WD Automatic) from transfer case





Necessary preliminary tasks:
Lower transmission with hydraulic lifter.

Mount special tools 22 1 042 22 1 040 Fixture / 22 1 041 22 1 040 Fixture on transfer case.

Pull out rubber mount with thrust plate 22 1 043 22 1 040 Fixture by means of spindle 33 4 460 33 4 460 Set of Tools and nut 22 1 017 22 1 010 Set of Tools.





Bolt special tool 22 1 044 22 1 040 Fixture to transfer case.
Insert special tool 22 1 045 22 1 040 Fixture with pins into openings of rubber mount.
Draw in rubber mount with special tool 33 4 460 33 4 460 Set of Tools.

Installation:
Pay attention to installation position of rubber mount.
Coat housing bore and rubber mount with Circolight, refer to BMW Parts Service.
