Replacing Battery Positive Lead (from Battery to Luggage Compartment Connector)

61 12 002 - Replacing positive battery cable (from battery to luggage compartment connector)

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove battery cover Removing and Installing Battery Cover
- Disconnect battery negative lead Disconnecting and Connecting Battery Negative Lead
- Remove luggage compartment floor storage tub Removing and Installing/Replacing Luggage Compartment Floor Storage Tub





Lever out expansion rivets (1).
Lift right floor panel underlay (2) at rear and remove in direction of arrow.





Disconnect plug connection (1) of IBS cable.
Release nut (3), tightening torque 61 21 1AZ [1][2]Specifications.

Important!
Do not under any circumstances pull/lever off safety battery terminal (2) by force.

Detach safety battery terminal (2) towards top, lay to one side and secure.





Open cable lug mounting (1).
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque 61 12 3AZ [1][2]Battery Cable.
Unclip and remove positive battery cable (3).

Warning!
Risk of short circuits!
During installation, make sure that
- Cable lug mounting (1) is correctly seated on positive battery cable (3)
- Screw is properly connected.





Unclip positive battery cable (1) from cable guides (2) and remove.
