Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection

11 40 000 - Checking engine oil pressure (N54)





Special tools required:
- 11 4 050 11 4 050 Reducer
- 13 3 061 13 3 060 Fixture
- 13 3 063 13 3 060 Fixture
- 13 6 051 13 6 050 Set of Adapters for BMW DIS
- 13 6 054 13 6 050 Set of Adapters for BMW DIS





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front ignition coil cover Removing and Installing/Replacing Ignition Coil Cover





Disconnect plug connection (1) on oil pressure switch.

Installation:
Plug connection (1) must snap audibly into place!

Remove oil pressure switch (2).

Tightening torque 12 61 1AZ [1][2]12 61 Display for Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Oil Level Sensors / Switches.





Screw in special tool 11 4 050 11 4 050 Reducer with sealing ring (1).





Checking engine oil pressure with BMW diagnosis system:
Connect special tools 13 6 054 13 6 050 Set of Adapters for BMW DIS and 13 6 051 13 6 050 Set of Adapters for BMW DIS.
Checking engine oil pressure with pressure gauge:
Connect special tools 13 3 063 13 3 060 Fixture and 13 3 061 13 3 060 Fixture.
Start engine and check engine oil pressure.
Compare actual values with prescribed setpoint values Pressure, Vacuum and Temperature Specifications.





Assemble engine.
