Trunk / Liftgate Hydraulic Fluid: Service and Repair




51 24 660 - Correcting fluid level in hydraulic unit for rear lid actuation (electrohydraulic/fully automatic)





Important!
Do not under any circumstance remove fluid tank from hydraulic unit.
Use fluid from "Small parts for hydraulic unit" set.

Note:
Hydraulic unit Service and Repair removed.

Ideal filling:
Set hydraulic unit (1) according to installation position in vehicle with equipment carrier down on a horizontal surface.
Correct fluid level must be in area A of marking (2).

Important!
Hose clamp (2) must not be released because turning the fluid tank (1) will leave the fluid level marking in the wrong position.





Correcting fluid level:
Set hydraulic unit (1) on a horizontal surface with fluid tank (2) facing upwards.
Open seal plug unit (3) and replenish hydraulic fluid.
Do not cover the opening in the process as the system is simultaneously bled via the filler opening.

Installation Note:
Replace seal plug unit.
Tightening torque 51 24 2AZ 51 24 Rear Lid Locks.





When ideal filling is achieved:
Install hydraulic unit (1).
Close and open rear lid (motor-driven) three times in succession, this bleeds the system.

Note:
Air in the system can cause the rear lid to stick until the system if fully bled (max. running time of rear lid is specified by control unit). Actuate rear lid again in this case.

With rear lid fully open (cylinder extended), fluid level (3) at fitted hydraulic unit (1) must be in area (A) of marking (2).
