Removing and Installing/Replacing Hydraulic Cylinder for Rear Lid (Electrohydraulic/Fully Automatic)




51 24 151 - Removing and installing/replacing hydraulic cylinder for rear lid (electrohydraulic/fully automatic)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect hydraulic lines on hydraulic unit Service and Repair
- Remove roofliner
- Remove rear speaker Removing and Installing/Replacing Rear Mid-Range Speaker (In Molded Roofliner) on left side

Important!
Follow instructions for automatic rear lid actuation Instructions for Automatic Rear Lid Actuation (Electrohydraulic/Fully Automatic) (electrohydraulic)
The hydraulic unit may no longer be activated when the hydraulic cylinder is removed (cylinder extended).





Lift hydraulic cylinder (1) in direction of arrow out of ball pin (2).
Repeat procedure on rear lid.

Important!
Check tightening torque of ball pin (2).
If ball pin (2) is loose, insert with Loctite 270 and screw down.
Tightening torque 51 24 10AZ 51 24 Rear Lid Locks.
Seal screw connection with wax.





Disconnect plug connection (1) through opening of left rear speaker.





Unclip hydraulic lines (1) from bracket (2) and feed out through side panel (3) on inside.





Note:
After removal, join hydraulic lines (1) together.

Unclip hydraulic lines (1) from brackets (2).

Feed hydraulic lines (1) out of grommets (3 and 4) in direction of arrow.

Installation:
Check fluid level in hydraulic unit Instructions for Automatic Rear Lid Actuation (Electrohydraulic/Fully Automatic), correct if necessary.





Installation:
Cover (2) must be correctly connected with screws (1).

Replacement:

Only remove transportation guard of piston rod immediately before attaching ball socket.
Once the new hydraulic cylinder (2) has been installed, the system must detect the "Rear lid open" deactivation point.
- Disconnect and connect battery Removing and Installing/Replacing Battery.
- Press button on rear lid.
- Hydraulic unit runs for 13 seconds (regardless of rear lid setting) in "Open" direction.
