Removing and Installing Independent/Auxiliary Heater




64 12 021 - Removing and installing independent/auxiliary heater





Special tools required:
- 13 3 010 13 3 010 Hose Clip





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove left front wheel Removing or Installing Front or Rear Wheel.
- Remove front left wheel arch lining Service and Repair.
- Remove left underbody paneling Removing and Installing / Replacing Left or Right Underbody Panelling.





Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Only perform the following tasks on an engine that has cooled down.

Note:
Disconnect coolant hoses on independent heater.





Note:
Disconnect fuel line on independent heater with special tool 13 3 010 13 3 010 Hose Clip.





Recycling:
Fuel escapes when fuel line is detached. Have a suitable collecting container ready.
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.





Release hose clip (1) and detach fuel line.
Release spring clips (2) and detach coolant hoses.

Installation:
Top up coolant and vent cooling system.

Unscrew nut (3).





Warning!
Secure independent heater against falling out.





Disconnect plug connections (1) and (2).

Important!
To avoid damaging the independent heater, it is absolutely essential to adhere to the following connecting sequence for the plug connections during installation:
1. Plug connection (1)
2. Plug connection (2)

Release screws (3).

Remove independent heater (4) in direction of arrow.

Installation:
Make sure exhaust pipe of independent heater (4) is correctly seated in muffler (5).
