SUBJECT
RHT Opens but Trunk Lid will not Close

MODEL
E93 (3 Series Convertible)





SITUATION
The retractable hardtop (RHT) roof package (1) opens and stows in the trunk area, but the trunk lid (2) remains in the position shown.

CAUSE
An obstruction in the luggage compartment does not allow the roof package to fully lower into the trunk and prevents the "roof package stowed" hall-effect sensor from reading closed.





CORRECTION
Remove the object[s] from the side areas of the luggage compartment indicated in the illustration and proper operation will be restored.

INFORMATION
These side areas are not intended for storage any time the RHT may be operated.

To prevent damage to the RHT and ensure proper operation, objects must only be stored under the lowered luggage partition in the trunk.

Customers should be informed that objects should not be stored in this area as noted in the Owner's Manual.

Repairs due to damage caused by objects in these areas are not a defect in materials or workmanship and are therefore not covered under warranty.
