INFORMATION
During the removal and reinstallation or replacement of a fuel injector, it is very important that all of the recommended repair instruction procedures be followed precisely.

For example, the N54 engine TIS Repair Instruction, RA 13 53 310 - Removing and installing or replacing an injector (N54), contains very specific information when performing repairs to the injectors on the N54 high-pressure fuel system.

It is very important that the ignition coils be removed prior to opening any high-pressure fuel connection, as described in SI B12 27 08.

Each injector is adjusted to the DME, based on its production calibration and cylinder position in the engine. If an injector is replaced, the individual calibration (adjustment value) must be read off of the new injector and entered into the DME.

If the DME is replaced, all injector adjustment values must be entered into the replacement part after the programming / coding session.

Failure to perform this procedure correctly could result in starting and engine performance problems.

This procedure is found in diagnostics using the following path:
Service Functions / Engine Electronics / Adjustment programs / Adjust injectors

For each injector, the adjustment value is entered according to the installed cylinder position.

NOTE:
Due to conversions taking place in the DME control unit, the final digit of the values entered may differ slightly after they have been stored. This does not indicate an input or control unit error.
