54 34 400 - Removing and installing Convertible top wiring harness
Warning!
Soft top becomes pressureless without a warning signal.
For all work, secure soft top with a suitable support tool against collapsing.
Ensure Convertible top is supported in the middle.
Ignition must remain switched off during the repair work.
Failure to comply with this instruction may result in the hydraulic valves incurring preliminary damage.
Note:
If the wiring harness is only partly damaged, a partial repair is also permissible with a new complete wiring harness.
Make sure the wiring harness is installed and secured correctly!

Convertible top wiring harness overview:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear seal 54 34 347 Removing and Installing/Replacing Rear Roof Frame Seal
- Remove cowl panel trim 54 34 127 Removing and Installing/Replacing Trim For Cowl Panel
- Remove side trim panel Removing and Installing Rear Left or Right Side Trim Panel
Note:
For purposes of clarity, removal of Convertible top wiring harness is shown on removed Convertible top.
Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
Disconnect cable ties and feed wiring harness out of body.
Installation Note:
Replace faulty cable ties.
Unclip plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Unclip cable holder with wiring harness from Convertible top frame.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace defective clips.
Unclip cable holder with wiring harness from Convertible top frame.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace defective clips.
Unclip cable holder with wiring harness from Convertible top frame.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace defective clips.
Unclip cable holder with wiring harness from Convertible top frame.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace defective clips.
Disconnect all cable ties from wiring harness.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace cable ties.
Release screws (1).
Remove Hall sensors.
Unclip Hall sensor (2).
Disconnect all cable ties from wiring harness.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace cable ties.
Unclip plastic guide (1).
Disconnect all cable ties from wiring harness.
Installation Note:
If necessary, replace cable ties.
Disconnect plug connection (1) from cable strap.
Detach cable tie.
Installation Note:
Replace faulty cable ties.
Disconnect plug connection (1) from cable strap.
Detach cable tie.
Feed wiring harness out of locking bar linkage.
Installation Note:
Replace faulty cable ties.
Make sure wiring harness is correctly positioned in locking bar linkage.
Installation Note:
- Replace all cable ties
- Make sure Convertible top wiring harness is correctly routed
- Do not twist or kink Convertible top wiring harness.
- Make sure that entire wiring harness is not jammed in Convertible top frame or linkage.
- Convertible top wiring harness must not be under tension.
- Carry out operational check Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
