54 34 ... Operating Instructions For Universal Lifting Gear

1. Description:
- Universal lifting gear for convertible tops for workshop use only and not for production
- Carrying capacity: 125 kg

2. Intended use:
- For workshop use for installing and removing convertible tops
- Only perform operations which have been approved and authorised by BMW

3. Properties of the load, including the quality and number of parts that can be turned over all at once:
- The convertible top must have suitable pick-up points for strain and compression element.
- The contact plates of the support element must if necessary (depending on model series) be changed in order to adapt them to the shape of the main bearing so as to prevent the support spindle from sliding off.
- Distance between stain and compression points min. 60 mm.

4. No transporting over persons:
- The use of suspended loads over persons is prohibited. The user must be well versed in handling suspended loads.

5. Testing and inspection:
- Before start-up: all retaining bolts must be in place.
- Check the tool before use for visible damage.
- Distance between stain and compression points min. 60 mm.
