Localising Noises With The Convertible Top Opened

Localize the noise with the vehicle stationary or during the test drive. If the noise occurs during the test drive, run the checks in the following list.

IMPORTANT: For reasons related to road safety, run the test drive with two persons.

Procedure
If the noise changes or disappears during the check, select the number of the measure specifically designed for the purpose. Repair instructions are displayed for each measure.

Checks with the vehicle stationary

Reproduce, check noise Measure no.
Convertible top compartment lid rattles: 1
Move the convertible top into the servicing
position. Check the seating and mounting of
the bump stop of the convertible top cover
on both sides.

Rattling / grating noise when convertible 2
top is stored: Brace for tensioning bar is
loose or missing, possibly dry contact surface.

Checks while the vehicle is being driven

Check if the noise occurs Measure no.
Linkage exit flap rattles: Push the linkage 3
exit flap back slightly or use a piece of
material to fix it in a slightly opened
position.
The noise could not be localized on the basis of the list. 99
