Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair

32 31 082 Removing and installing or replacing steering angle sensor

Special tools required:
^ 32 3 040

Important:
The steering angle sensor must be coded if it has been replaced. Then carry out steering angle offset for Electronic Damper Control / Dynamic Stability Control, refer to BMW Diagnosis Program.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Disconnect and connect battery.
^ Remove steering column.





Detach lug (1) and bushing (2).
Installation:
Replace bushing.





Press down both locking hooks.
Detach steering angle sensor.





Slide special tool 32 3 040 into steering angle sensor. The link must rest in the opening of the steering angle sensor.





Locate special tool 32 3 040 with steering angle sensor. Both lugs (1) of special tool must rest in openings of bushing (2).
Push on steering angle sensor.





Locking element (1) must be inserted in holder of steering angle sensor.
Both locking hooks must be engaged.
