Adjusting Rear Lid Lock Lower Section of Rear Lid Lock)

51 24 004 Adjusting Rear Lid Lock (Lower Section Of Rear Lid Lock)

Prerequisite:
Rear lid must be correctly adjusted to fit; if necessary, adjust rear lid.
For ideal adjustment, refer to Body gap dimensions.

If necessary, lock ejectors in detent buffers.
Press ejector into detent buffer and, in this position, twist slightly to left with a Phillips screwdriver.

Fully turn detent buffer on left/right of rear lid to insert.

Check sliders on striker for damage, replace if necessary.

Loosen screws on striker until it is just able to move and centres itself.
Striker must not brush against rear lid lock.

Adjust striker:
Close rear lid.
This automatically adjusts the striker correctly.

Open rear lid.
Tighten down screws on striker.
Check adjustment of trunk lid and trunk lid lock, repeating adjustment if necessary.

Unscrew detent buffers to the point where left and right sides of closed rear lid lie rest on detent buffers.

NOTE: The rear lid must not be higher than the side panels, otherwise there is preload on height adjustment.

If necessary, turn the ejectors in the detent buffers gently to the right with a Phillips screwdriver. This unlocks the detent buffers and enables them to retract.
