SUBJECT
Harness Short Causes Various Electrical Problems

E70 (X5)

SITUATION
The vehicle has various electrical complaints e.g.:

^ Fuse(s) blown in rear fuse box

^ Faults stored various control modules

^ Electrical functionality complaints

CAUSE
Electrical short to sharp metal edge near rear fuse box

PROCEDURE





Check for electrical short of the harness (1) at the rear fuse box (located in the luggage compartment on the right hand side). In some cases, a black spot may be visible on the metal edge to show the location of the short.

Repair the affected wire and re-insulate. Use a rubber hose to protect the sharp metal edge from causing further damage.

Please refer to the latest KSD for all applicable labor operations and allowances.

If the appropriate labor operation is not contained in KSD, then a work time labor operation should be used.
