Tailgate Latch Noisy when Closing

MODEL
E70 (X5) produced up to 2/8/2007

SITUATION
When the upper tailgate is closed, the soft-close automatic (SCA) striker pulls the upper tailgate into its fully closed position. At the end of the SCA striker's travel, an audible clicking noise can be heard.

CAUSE
The SCA drive is traveling 0.5 - 1.0 mm too far toward the closed position.

CORRECTION
Replace the SCA drive with an improved part.

PROCEDURE
Replace the SCA drive per repair instruction RA 51 24 133.
