SUBJECT
Rattle from the Upper Tailgate Trim

MODEL
E70 (X5) produced up to 4/2007

SITUATION
While driving over rough roads, a rattle may be heard from the upper trim on the tailgate.

CAUSE
Contact is made between the upper tailgate trim and the tailgate itself.

CORRECTION
Install foam blocks to the back side of the tailgate trim.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the upper tailgate trim per Repair Instruction RA 51 49 002.





2. Secure 5 foam blocks (1) to the back side of the upper tailgate trim as per the diagram.

3. Reinstall the upper tailgate trim per Repair Instruction RA 51 49 002.
