SUBJECT
Seat Will Not Move In Any Direction

MODEL
E70 (X5) equipped with Active, Lumbar Support, or Multi-Contour seats (option codes 451, 488, or 456)

SITUATION
The customer may state that one or both of the seats will not move in any direction after entering the vehicle.

On the following drive cycle, after the vehicle has assumed sleep mode, function will be restored.

Therefore, this failure mode may be noted as being an intermittent problem.

CAUSE
This condition is caused by a software error.

CORRECTION
This problem is permanently corrected with a software update in Progman V24.1.0, expected in mid- December 2006.

PROCEDURE
- Do not replace any parts.
- As a temporary action, allow the vehicle to enter sleep mode and then wake the vehicle up to restore function to the seat.
- Once Progman V24.1.0 becomes available, program the vehicle (refer to SI B09 05 01 - Coding, Individualization, and Programming, Procedure B).
