Glove box, version up to 09/2009
The glove box has a two-section lid. The glove box is opened electrically by pressing a button. The glove box is linked to the central locking system of the vehicle.

Brief component description
The following components are described for the glove box:
- Glove box button
- Glove box cover
- Release drive, glove box
- Emergency operation

Glove compartment button
The button to open the glove box is located in the dashboard close to the ventilation grilles. When pressed, the button switches a ground signal to the input of the junction box electronics (JBE).

Glove box cover
The two glove box covers are unlocked electrically. After unlocking, the glove box covers are opened automatically by spring force. The glove box covers are interconnected by a mechanical system.

Release drive, glove box
The glove box has 2 release drives.
The junction box electronics (JBE) provide the electrical supply for unlocking the glove box. The grounding cable from the button for opening the glove box is connected to the JBE. The JBE issues a pulse-width modulated signal with the level of the vehicle voltage to the glove box release drives. The unlocking is activated for approx. 100 ms.
The JBE is located below the glove box.







Emergency operation
In the event of electrical faults, the glove box can be opened manually. To do so, the side cover on the dashboard must be opened. Pulling the revealed loop upwards unlocks and opens the glove box.

Functional networking







To open
Pressing the button for the glove box electrically unlocks the glove box. After unlocking, the two glove box covers are opened automatically by spring force. The glove box covers are interconnected by a mechanical system.

To close
The glove box is closed by pressing one of the glove box covers. Here, it is sufficient to push only one glove box cover closed. The glove box covers catch audibly in the end position.

Automatic locking / unlocking
The glove box is linked to the central locking system. On locking the vehicle, the glove box is also locked. On unlocking the vehicle, the glove box is also unlocked. The glove box can also be locked and unlocked using the central locking button.
