Attachment - Removing Champ
B65 14 07 Removing CHAMP - E70The button panel for the CHAMP radio is attached via five (5) plastic tabs. If the CHAMP is not properly removed, these tabs can break off from the button panel.
Please use the following procedure when removing the CHAMP radio from the vehicle.
Trim Panel Removal
1. Remove the center fresh air grill located above the IHKA control panel as per Repair Instructions RA 64 22 164. Be sure to disconnect all connecters (i.e. connectors to the vent controls, hazard warning flashers/central locking button, and glove compartment button).
2. Remove the center trim for the A/C control panel. Refer to RA 51 45 310 and the steps below.
3. Remove the two screws that hold the top of the IHKA trim panel into place.
4. Do not attempt to pull the trim panel off without applying significant pressure to the front of the CHAMP button panel during removal.
5. To remove the trim panel, begin from the bottom right of the panel using a plastic pry tool while at the same time applying pressure to the CHAMP button panel.
6. Continue removing the trim panel from the bottom left side while again applying pressure to the CHAMP button panel.
7. While still applying pressure the CHAMP button panel, finish removing the trim by prying the middle right side and then the middle left side of the trim panel with a plastic pry tool.
8. Once the trim panel is removed, disconnect all connectors to the A/C control panel.
CHAMP Removal
9. Remove the two screws holding the CHAMP unit to its mounting bracket.
10. Remove the CHAMP by grasping the top and bottom of the metal chassis. Do not attempt to remove the CHAMP by pulling on the sides of the button panel.
