23 12 512 - Replacing radial shaft seal for drive shaft (GS7S47BG SMG)





Special tools required:
- 23 0 490 23 0 490 Extractor
- 23 2 490 23 2 490 Impact Bush and Slip Sleeve
- 23 4 100





Important!
After completion of work, check gear oil level Service and Repair.

Use only approved transmission oil.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove transmission Removing and Installing Transmission (GS7S47BG SMG)
- Remove clutch controller and release lever Removing and Installing/Replacing Clutch Release Bearing/Lever from guide tube.





Unfasten screws.

Tightening torque, 23 11 2AZ [1][2]Case, M/T.

Remove guide tube (1).

Installation Note:
Clean guide tube.

Do not grease guide tube.





Drive a hole into radial shaft seal (1) using a centre punch.

Important!
Do not use a drill as drillings may result in transmission malfunction.

Screw in special tool 23 0 490 23 0 490 Extractor.

Drive out radial shaft seal (1) with impact weight (2).





Important!
Shorten special tool 23 4 100 by 75 mm.





Installation Note:
Coat sealing lips of radial seal with gear oil.

Push radial shaft seal (1) onto drive shaft up to housing.

Drive in radial shaft seal (1) as far as it will go with special tool 23 4 100 and striking tool 23 2 490 23 2 490 Impact Bush and Slip Sleeve.
