Steering Column Lock: Service and Repair

32 31 087 - Removing and installing/replacing steering column lock





Note:
Steering column lock can only replaced in vehicles from 09/05 with electric steering column adjustment.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove trim panel for pedal assembly 51 45 185 Removing and Installing/Replacing Panel For Pedals.





Disconnect plug connection (1).

Note:
There is the risk of mixing up the 3-pin plug connection for the footwell light.

Release shear screws (2).
Remove steering column lock (3).

Installation:
Spherical side of shim must point to steering column lock (3).





After installation:
- Carry out operational check.
