Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

11 23 010 - Removing and installing / replacing vibration damper (S85)





Special tools required:
- 00 9 120 00 9 120 Torque Angle Measuring Dial
- 11 0 280 11 0 280 Holder
- 11 9 260 11 9 260 Counter Support with Screw Connection
- 11 9 263 11 9 260 Counter Support with Screw Connection





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove fan cowl with electric fan.
- Remove A/C compressor drive belt Replacing A/C Compressor Drive Belt.
- Remove alternator drive belt Replacing Alternator Drive Belt.





Release screw (1).
Remove idler pulley (2).
Release screws (4).
Remove belt pulley (3).
Release screws (5).
Remove belt tensioner (6).





Release screws (1).
Remove cover (2) with belt pulley (3).





Note:
Engine or transmission removed.

Secure special tool 11 9 260 11 9 260 Counter Support with Screw Connection to flywheel (1).

Screw in special tool 11 9 263 11 9 260 Counter Support with Screw Connection with bolt (2) on crankcase.





Release screws (2).
Remove vibration damper (1).
Tightening torque: 11 23 1AZ 11 23 Vibration Damper.





Note:
Engine or transmission installed.

Attach special tool 11 0 280 11 0 280 Holder to vibration damper.

Support special tool 11 0 280 11 0 280 Holder on holder (1).
Release all stress bolts in direction of arrow.

Installation:
Replace stress bolts.





Support special tool 11 0 280 11 0 280 Holder on holder (1).
Tighten stress bolts with special tool 00 9 120 00 9 120 Torque Angle Measuring Dial.
Tightening torque: 11 23 1AZ 11 23 Vibration Damper.





Assemble engine.
