52 14 028 - Replacing backrest release cable for front left or right seat
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove backrest Removing and Installing/Replacing Backrest Frame on Front Left or Right Seat (Normal/Electric)
Open backrest cover.
Unclip retainer (1) of Bowden cable mount.
Unclip retainer (2) of actuating mechanism.
Remove actuating mechanism.
Unclip cable mount.
Installation:
Retaining clip must be replaced (constituent part of repair kit).
Remove toothed segment cover (1) as follows:
- Raise cover in upward direction
- Slide cover upwards and detach
Note:
Before removing the backrest, it is essential to move the backrest forwards:
Pull Bowden cable (1) and press backrest forwards.
Remove backrest frame from seat mechanism as follows:
Lever tunnel-side backrest frame with screwdriver over bushing.
Then remove backrest frame in upward direction by pulling with alternate movements.
Tunnel-side plastic bushing (1) must not be damaged.
Disengage return spring (1).
Installation:
Replace return spring (1).
Note:
Cover working area.
Do not allow any chips to get into the seat and backrest mechanisms.
Mark rivet (2) with centre punch and drill out.
Lever out cover (1) with screwdriver.
Installation:
Before fitting kinematic assembly, apply a thin coating of grease to contact surface.
Installation:
Engage return spring (1) before screwing kinematic assembly into place.
Installation:
Rivet is replaced by a stud.
Nut must be screwed on on inside of backrest.
Lug (3) of kinematic assembly must be positioned next to stop (2).
Screw on kinematic assembly.
Tightening torque: 52 10 20AZ Front Seats.
Check kinematic assembly for ease of movement.
Installation:
Press cover (1) with positioning pin onto backrest frame.
Overview of finish-assembled (new) Bowden cable from spare part kit.
Installation:
Install toothed segment cover (1).
Make sure Bowden cable is in correct position along spacer
Installation:
Course of Bowden cable (1).
Assemble front seat.
